HMM operates a global service network with more than 60 sea routes and over 100 ports of call. Since its inception in 1976, HMM has evolved into a premier global shipping and logistics company and is currently one of the top five Trans-Pacific carriers and one of the top 10 carriers in the global shipping industry with a varied sized fleet for Trans-Pacific, Asia-Europe, Trans-Atlantic and Inter-Asia trade.

In December 2011, HMM joined the G6 alliance comprised of 6 leading carriers (Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, OOCL, APL, MOL and HMM) to offer more advanced services to customers in the Asia-Europe and Mediterranean trade lanes and this alliance agreement is set to continue up until April 2017.

Future plans include the upsizing of vessels, capacity increase in special container service (Jumbo and Reefer service) and to continue to add new shipping routes and tonnage, resources to improve electronic services, and further streamline existing programs and services.
